What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new initiative to provide greater support for people with disability, their families, careers and communities across Australia. The NDIS will take effect on 1 July 2016.

Through a unique agreement between the Commonwealth Government and all Australian states, territories and New Zealand, it provides people with disability as well as their families and carers with more choice about how they want to receive support. It also gives providers of disability services increased certainty about funding over time.
